bob szappanoshave a 1999 dodge grand caravan with 30,000 miles on it. it has the 205/75/14 goodyear conquest tires on it. i want to replace them with a better ride and handling tire. i have an optional size of a 215/70/14 that i can use. have looked at the michelin x-one. any comments on that tire or another one.with the stock 14 inch rim my choices are limited.
You are on the right track, and yes your choices in tire size 215/70-14 are limited and your optional tire sizes are limited to that size. The X-1 would be one of your better choices. I would also look at the Dunlop D65T, without a tire guide at hand, I'm not sure though believe it is available in that size.
If price isn't an issue, go with the Michelins, if price is a consideration take a look at the Dunlop. Should be considerably less and will perform in most areas very comparably. Total mileage may have an edge with the Michelins, although the Caravan is tough on tires. Rotation is critical with that vehicle.
