PreludeI need tires for the 1997 Honda Prelude.
What would be the best choice if I wanted them to last for 25,000 miles at 205/50/16.
Vini've been hearing good things about the new firestone firehawk SZ50s. they are a summer tire only. supposed to be ultra grippy, tread water very well and be quiet to boot. considering them for my A4 since I run steel rims with snows for the winter.

if snow is of concern, check something else out.

Jim J.I put Yoko AVS Intermediates on my '97 Integra and was very happy with the performance in both wet and dry. Not recommended for winter however. The first snow left me stuck in the driveway! since then I've switched to 4 snows for winter driving (Pirelli Winter 190's) and have had no problem - except that time when my air dam caught too much snow, but that's another story! Good luck.

Jim, I am seriously looking at the AVS Inter for my 91 Integra. Only V rated tire that I can find in the 195/60/14 size. Does this have a good stiff sidewall offering good response? My Yoko Avid H4s have terrible sidewall flex yielding lousy response. Also, is ultimate grip good?
Thanks.

Jim J.Mike, I was very happy w/them. Very sticky, lots of grip. Not the best mileage, but then that can be a factor of driving style. Sidewall flex was not a problem. If that's real important to you, try moving to the next "plus" wheel/tire combo, but I would buy them again. You'll see a huge improvement over your current tires!
MikeJim,

Thanks for the info. I may go with the AVS next time. I agree with your mileage assumption - too many stop light rallies and on/off-ramp excursions will shorten tire life to be sure. )

MikeOh, and Jim, I forgot to mention that the Avids are on my wife's car. My Integra was wearing RE930s when I got it. Nice tires but not nearly aggressive enough for an Integra.
