ToddHI've currently got 8000s w/ 195/50ZR15 in front and 205/50ZR15 in rear on a modified RWD car I drive for pleasure, occasionally to work and autoX now and then. Great tire though a tad harsh and doesn't do well on roads with grooves. Snow is NOT an issue. Also not sure about continued availability in 205/50-15 size(???).

I'd appreciate opinions on some tires and how they compare to SP8000 including:

Sumitomo HTRZ (160AA)
Pirelli P700-Z (140AA)
Bridgestone Potenza RE71 (140AA)
' ' Comp T/A ZR (220AA)

Thanks very much for any input and if there's any others I should consider...

bill conroyHi Todd,

This spring I bought a set of Bridgestone RE71s for my 87 Audi Quattro. I have been pleased with these tires. They are fairly quiet, okay in the rain and have very good dry pavement handling characteristics. They are also relatively inexpensive too.

I previously purchased a set of Continental CZ 91s, and loved these tires, but they don't make these tires in my size any more.

I also looked into the Dunlop 8000s but these too did not come in my size. I may purchase a set of these for my wife's car this spring, though, and would appreciate any feedback you could offer. Thanks.

Bill

ToddhThanks! I was quite happy with the SP8000s but it's looking like they are not avail in my size anymore. So it sounds like the RE71s are indeed in the same ballpark - thanks for the sanity check.

-Todd
