Usually, an all-terain tire will ride better on the road/highway, with less noise and smoother, softer ride. Mud\snow tires are louder, with a hard, stiff ride. The all terrain tires will also last much longer. A normal AT will go 50-60000 miles, while a mud\snow will last 20-30000 miles, tops. Normally, only serious offroaders, or those who use their truck for lots of off road work, eg, farmers, will get any benefit from using a mud/snow tire
