question i have to ask first....was the car sitting in one place for a prolonged period of time? If the tire went flat and the car was sitting on it it could have damaged the tires belt (inside the tire) and you will have to replace it. In your case it would be similiar to something else you might have done....locking up the brakes from a freeway speed. If you did this it would be called "flatspotting" if this is the case you could keep driving the car and it should gradually get better. If it gets worse, replace the tire with another of the same make or replace the pair on that axle. The mechanic should be able to tell you which tire or tires it is when he balances the tires.
