Agree with you 100%. V and especially Z rated tires (rated for continuous running over 149mph) are overkill considering our legal speed limit is around 55mph. But these things are just like the motor oil additives and 17" tires, they are a marketing scam cooked up by spin doctors and are making a lot of money for a lot of people. A Porsche 930 turbo runs fine on 15" wheels and H rated just about 5,6 years ago, now they are telling us a Chevy Corsica needs 16" wheels and V rated tires to perform?? You gotta be kidding.
