The X-1 offers less traction due to the closed lateral grooves on the edge tread. This is part of what gives it a better mileage. I'm not sure of the application, but I'd suggest the Energy MXV4 Plus (make sure you get the Plus, it is the latest). They have less rolling resistance than other tires and can actually give you better gas mileage in addition to increased traction over the X-1.
