Andy is correct in that a -1 sized tire will give you better traction in the snow. It is however the thinner contact patch versus a wide one that will offer this benefit, not the profile of the tire. I would recommend the Bridgestone Blizzaks, I've run them for three years now, and the've taken over the Nokia's as the leader in snow tire technology.
