I don't know what exactly you are considering a performance car, BMWs new M-Coupe uses a variant of the SP8000 as OE and I have seen several new 540is with SP2000s. Also, fwiw, I don't know that because a tire is spec'd as OE makes it the best tire in the world. Manufacturers put lots of tires on cars from the factory that are junk for whatever reason (quiet, smooth riding, mpg, wet traction, price, internal politics). Even though it isn't a high performance tire as you are dicussing, look how many cars come with Eagle GAs even though almost any tire will outperform it in all handling (wet, dry, braking, cornering) catagories.
