My experience in buying tires for a '93 Taurus LX, which is very similar, tells me that you need
to be very careful about deviating from the orginal tires. I went through 2 sets of tires
before I finally decided to go back to the same brand/type as came on the car. The Taurus, as
many modern front wheel drive cars, is very very sensitive to non OEM tires, which can and will
affect ride, handling, steering and overall "feel". So, my advice is, replace your tires with the
same type as originally came on the car, or at the very least, buy from a store where you have a
guarantee that you can exchange them if you don't like them.
