Well, I went with the X-One's. When I saw an actual tire our concern about hard rubber (to provide the unlimited milage) seemed incorrect. The rubber is relatively pliable to the touch. There is a lot of rubber in the patch to help with wear. I guess the siping and the circumferential grooves are the keys for wet performance.
I came across what looked like a good buy on the X- One's that made them price out about equivalent to the MXV4. I figured that the X-One was perhaps less specialized (for rain) but, that I could not go very far wrong with them.
They feel great so far. (And I like the white wall look.)
I will let you know how they do for me after a few weeks.
