George, thanks for your input. I talked with the salesperson
at Discount Tires Direct and asked him which of the tires has
a medium soft compound with lots of groves to remove the water.
He said the Nitto NT 450. I went to the nittotire.com web site
and the tread wear number was half way between a regular tire
and a high performance tire. Also, a picture was there showing
the thread design, and there was lots of groves angleing outward
to expell the water. This tire is listed as all-season M+S.
I'am going to go for the 215/45 Z-17 Nitto NT 450 tires.
I'll ask the Discount Tires Direct man to recommend an alloy
wheel that is stronger than others so when I hit a pot hole
there will be less chance to damage the wheel. Thanks again.
