Give serious consideration to a light truck tire, such as the Michelin LTX.
Most passenger car tires are 4 ply, whereas light truck tires are 6-ply. This adds
lateral stiffness which helps the stability/handling of top heavy vehicles. I know since
it's the best tires I've ever had on my VW Vanagon. Put 60k miles in 4 years and still have
lots of tread. Talk to your local Michelin dealer and see if they let you try a set for 30 days
with full-value trade if you don't like them.
