The fact that you are asking about a sears brand tire means that any tire out there will be more than good enough for you so just buy the cheapest tires you see because it doesn't sound like you will ever need the benefits of a high end tire.

Gonzo, your reponse just shows your ignorance about tires. Many big name tire companies make provate label tires. Michelin, which owns BF Goodrich and Uniroyal has a plant in Fort Wayne Indiana that manufactures tons of private label tires. There are identical tires coming of the production line with the name Sears, BF Goodrich and others. The only difference is the brand name on the side of the tire..... and please don't even try to argue the point. I've spent 3 years designing their computer systems used in the production of these tires, so I'm very familiar with the process. (Good Year does the same thing also).

I think gonzo makes a valid point because anyone buying tires from sears does not need a better quality tire because the sears tire will be more than what a person needs. Even the cheapest most basic all season tire out there is more than enough. If you got a car like a BMW M3 or somthing similiar, then you want something better and you won't find high end tires at sears because people who buy tires from sears drive average cars with average performance. Why should some grandma driving a buick buy high end tires when she would never need the benefits of that tire? Thats why those type of people should just buy the cheapest tires they can find because they don't need anything better.

His advice was to just buy the cheapest tire out there. You can buy Sears tires from the cheap basic passanger tire all the way up to some very good touring tires, so your point is not correct. Also you are mistaking quality with tire type. I doubt that you'll be able to get high performance tires at Sears (at least with the Sears name on them), but that does not mean that they are lower quality. Anytime a tire is made, there are compromises made even when using the very best materials. You want handling? Your comfort will be sacrificed. You want great braking? Prepare to give up some tire life for it.
Once again, that is using high quality materials. There are differences in tire quality in all manufacturing lines. Also, never assume that the highest price the tire, means one of bets quality.

The best tires are European and Asian. Goodyear is terrible quality yet so expensive. For ultra high performance the Michelin PS2 made in France, incredible grip in wet and dry, I doub't there is a better performance tire out there today. But excellent performance tire for cheap is Kumho, super value and very high quality product.
