I made reference earlier to the Consumer Reports review of the nokian nrw's being slippery but I was trying to establish if the nokian wr's (which I have oversized on my Rav4) were in the same boat in that report. I've tried them a little in winter and so far they were fairly good but I have no other winter tire experience, so who knows?IP: Logged |

The Nokian WR and a number of winter tires were evaluated by ADAC - a German automobile organization. The Nokian WR received the highest ratings among the winter tires in dry road performance, wet road performance, and performance on ice . The biggest detractor was long braking distance in snow. Additionally, it rated low in wear. However, the WR has a Nokian warranty of 50k miles. I spoke with a few Nokian tire dealers. One independant dealer has the WR's on his F150 truck. He sees them going 50k miles. Another independant dealer uses them year around on his Jeep in Colorado. When dealers use them on their own vehicle that tells you something.I ended up purchasing the Nokian WR's for my wife's Expedition. So far, they work just fine in the rain, but then keep in mind I don't drive it like a sports car. Eric K
