cchamelin unregistered	posted May 05, 2002 04:11 PM I have always been pretty bad with taking care of my tires. I only have 14,000 miles on my 2000 Toyota Sienna and I already need to replace the two front OEM tires (they were underinflated and the underpressure detector light on the dash never came on, so now the edges of the tires are beginning to wear through to the steel belts). Anyway, I want to get as cheap a set of tires as possible while making sure they have fairly decent all weather performance. Does anyone have any experience with the Sears Guardsman 40 passenger tires? I can get a set of four for only $99 plus balancing and installation. Since I figure I will probably need to replace these within another 20K miles anyway, as long as they perform well I think they would be a good buy. Any advice (other than chastisement for not keeping the tires properly inflated). IP: Logged
Sunglasses_at_nite unregistered	posted May 08, 2002 08:21 PM Where you live and how fast you drive should be the main factors in deciding which tires to buy. I don't think I would feel safe driving across a desert highway at 80 mph on tires that cost $25 each. If you only drive in city traffic just about any tire that holds air is ok. IP: Logged
donfromnaples unregistered	posted May 09, 2002 05:34 AM Your Sienna likely carries your family in it too. I would spend a little more for a good touring tire that will hold up in foul weather better than the Guardsman(like wet traction, and/or snow traction-depending on where you live), and will last longer. The Michelin X-One is a very good tire and I like the Goodyear Aquatred 3 also. Shop around online at tirerack.com and tires.com IP: Logged
