Topic: Goodyear RS-A vs Pierelli P7000 Supersport

I was deciding between the Goodyear RS-A and Pierelli P7000 Supersport. I drive a farily heavy car (1996 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon). I was wondering how they compare on noise, handling, and handling in the dry/wet.

Out of the two, the Pirellis do better in performance testing but the Goodyears last longer. Both tires are decent but neither is exceptional. I would look at the Bridgestone Turanza RE950 and get an exceptional tire at the same price as the other two you were considering.IP: Logged |

Oh, I goofed, you need at least a V rated tire. Go to an optional size of 205/55R16 and get over 70 tires to choose from instead. For instance the Continental Sport Contact 2 is excellent, better than those others listed above, the Goodyear Ultra HP Plus is also excellent, the Kumho Ecsta 712 is an excellent tire for very affordable price, the BF Goodrich Comp T/A VR4 is another excellent tire, the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 is yet another excellent tire. All the tires above run about $110 each except the Kumho which is about $20 less. Check them all out at tirerack.com. I compared treadwear for longevity, dry and wet grip, customer survey results, and test results conducted as comparison tests by tirerack. Good luck. You have a lot more choices by going with the 205/55R16 and this will actually offer a slightly more comfortable ride compared to the 50 series tires you have on there now.IP: Logged |

I replaced my OEM RSAs on my Infiniti I30t with Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloces, which were a significant improvement in handling - good roadholding and very linear breakaway characteristics. Not sure how the 7000 compares - I imagine its even higher performance than the 6000 Sport Veloce. I've just recently replaced my Pirellis with Bridgestone RE950s (all my tires have been 215HR6015), and so far I'm very impressed. Ride comfort is smoother and the tires are quieter. I haven't pushed them real hard yet, but the reader survey in Tirerack rates them very high in all aspects. Good luck with your choice. quote:
