Looking at buying the Protenza RE950 tires to put on my Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (H rated). Also considered Michelin MXV4+.Any comments good or bad. I live in the Midwest and will see some snow use. Thank you. IP: Logged |

Don't bother with the Michelins MXV4+, they are quiet but thats about it. They perform ok and are comparable to to the stock Goodyear RSAs on your car, which are also not that great. IP: Logged |

I have been using Michelin XGT H4 and recently purchased RE950s. The RE950s are definately better than Continental CH95s. The 950s are a little better than the XGT H4. I drive in rain and light snow. Use to use chains on Continental tires to get around. With the XGT H4 and 950 the chains are more trouble than they are worth. Even if there is a heavy snow the roads are cleared or melted off in a couple days. IP: Logged |

I read all the reviews on the tire rack about the re950 and even the people who liked them said they were loud and firm..who needs that unless you really push the limit?/IP: Logged |

as I just wrote I just took off the mxv4+ and put on the cont ch95 and find them every bit as good for a huge savings...they are just as quite and as nice of a ride...and they were only 78 at discount tire direct.com vs 121(tire rack) for the mercedes sizeIP: Logged |

wg is right the RE950 is a stiff tire. I did notice a much firmer feel to the car when I replaced the Conti 95 with RE950. The improvement in conering and steering response with the RE950 was significant enough that the firmer ride was acceptable trade off.IP: Logged |
