Has anyone used this new tire. I see that it has replaced the D60 A2.

I am getting them put on my '01 Maxima right now. Couldn't deal with those Toyo's any longer. After doing an exhausting amount of web research on tires...the new S A2 looks like the tire to get. Consumer Reports rated them very highly and the comments on tirerack.com are all very positive. I spoke with tirerack technical service and the guy said these are basically an improvement in all categories over the D60.

I will let you know how I like them.

Can I ask what was wrong with your Toyo's, and what model Toyo's?

I am looking for tires for my 97 Maxima Se and saw your review of the dunlop's. I see that they are very highly rated on Tirerack as well. Couple of question:
I am looking for a smoother/quieter riding tire with more snow traction than my stock Goodyear RSA tires. Do these fit the bill or am I better with a touring tire like the MXV4+ or Cont. 95's?
Thanks in advance!

OEM on my Max were Toyo A05. They got me around town but I wanted better performance. I have had the A2's for a week now. WOW! What a tire! They grip like claws. It is hard to make them squeal. The Toyos would scream at any idea of turning. I can take freeway offramps 15 mph faster and feel safer. As for the ride...it is much quiter than the Toyos and feels smoother. Just a much more sure footed tire. A great buy.

I am in AZ so can't give you any advice on snow traction. I can tell you that I had the RSA'a on my car for 2 days and didnt like them. They were noisy and didnt feel as sure footed as I wanted. Luckily I was given credit at the tire store and used it on my A2's!

Did you guys stick with the OEM tire size or did you size up? The rep. at tirerack said that I could go up to 225 55 R16 instead of my 215 55 R16, for a slightly qieter ride on my Max SE, what do you think? Also, are you guys still likeing these tires? I have pretty much narrowed it down to these.

I think that these guys often have overstock of a particular tire that they try to steer you into buying, and that it is difficult to rely on them for objective advice. I also don't know how a slightly wider tire will give you a quieter ride; AFAIK the opposite is true.
