Hi, I have an '84 Honda Civic. I am looking for some wheels to replace the factory rims. I asked a guy at Strobel tire co. if I could fit 17" rims on my car with out the tires rubbing when I turn. He said "NO". Is he telling the truth? Should I get 16" rims or should I get a second oppinion about the 17" rims?

I suggest you look elase where for assistance in the future if this is the level of knowledge at this location.
Yes you can use 17" wheels/rims on your 84 Civic. They key is the correct tire size. At one time the answer may have been no due to the overall hieght/diameter of the tire. This goes back some time when 17" tires were only avialble in taller overall diameters and there was not one "short" enough to fit the car. That is no longer the case, you actually have a multitide of choices.
the wheel on your car has a bolt pattern of 4x100. The tire size to use depends on your specific Civic model based on the OE tire size so that you can maintian a similar overall tire diameter to the OE size. Provide the model vehicle and what you expect or are looking to accomplish with this change over and I will reply with the correct size & tire options you may want to consider.
