I have read a couple of replies in here about tire upsizing, and they give negative reviews. I have a 91 GM 4X4, came with 265's on it, and currently have 285's on. About an inch in height difference. Someone said upsizing is hard on the tranny etc. I haven't noticed any shifting problems. Now I'am considering going to 315's, basically a 35 inch tire, would I now have problems with the previously described problems or not? I also have a 350 in my truck. Not concerned about the fuel economy too much either. Thnx!

You'll probably hurt fuel economy no doubt. It also depends on your gearing. With a taller tire your engine might not be able to get into it's optimum efficiency range. Where it could hurt the transmission, though, is if the engine is not producing enough power to hold the torque converter clutch in lock up. It will heat things up pretty dramatically (to the point where it can cause fires) on the highway. Your acceleration will be poor compared to a 265 or 285 as well. A way around this is to not use overdrive with that tall a tire.
