I am thinking of getting a Suburban with 2WD to be driven in snow. I'm looking for the best winter tires I can find to compensate for the lack of 4WD. The best I've been able to come up with so far are the Bridgestone, Winter Duelers. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Pete M. IP: Logged |

I don't know the size tires that you need for your Suburban, but Duelers are a good choice. You might also want to look at Dunlop Radial Rover RV's, Pirelli Scorpion AT's, BFG All Terrain TA's or Michelin LTX AT's. The latter two are great tires but a little more pricey. All these do well in the snow. Don't make the mistake of going too wide. Narrow is better in the snow.IP: Logged |

I would definitely recommend the Pirelli Scorpion AT's. They are the best SUV snow tire out there with out studs! I have a set of them and I lovem!! And the Pirelli Scorpion AT's are alot less exspensive compared to the bfg's. If you are dealing with any kind of ice, a dedicated winter tire is the way to go. There are a lot of options for your application. If it is just snow, most all terrain tires are great. Plus you can run them all year round. BFG All Terrain's are severe snow rated. I put Uniroyal Laredo AWT's on my 2wd Sonoma. What a difference in the winter! Unfortunatly, ice driving is the same as driving any normal all season tire.IP: Logged |

You may also want to consider the Nokian Hakka LT. It is a winter rated tire. See www.nokiantires.com IP: Logged |
