I need to get 2 new tires for my Civic. I live in Oregon so I want tires that are good in the rain... hydro-planing scares me! I don't want anything too fancy, just something that will drive well and perform in the rain. Any suggestions?IP: Logged |

I am assuming that you need 185/65/R14 tire size. In this size, I would recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE910, but only if you plan to buy 4. You can check them out at http://www.tirerack.com If you are scared of hydro-planing, you better be careful if you buy only two tires. I would only recommend that if you are buying the same exact tire as the two that you are leaving on the car. If you put Potenza RE910's on the front, for example, and had some other tires on the rear, when the back end starts passing the front end during a rain storm, it is kinda late to wish you had bought four tires instead of two. The good tires on the front might just give you a false sense of security.IP: Logged |

I would take a good look at the Firestone SH 30. It has consistently gotten great marks in treadwear, wet traction, hydroplaning, price, dry traction, etc... It is also sold at Tirerack.com so you can compare them with several other tires.IP: Logged | |
