I have been researching hard trying to find replacement tires for my 96 Camry. It came with Dunlop M60 A2 90H 195/70 R14's, which I found squealed alot on turns and spun alot on wet pavement acceleration. I've pretty much decided to stay with the H-rating, but there aren't many options. I'm willing to spend the $ for the bet tire. traction is # 1 for me and I need good snow performance. So far I've done so much research that all I've managed to do is eliminate almost every tire for one reason or another. Now I'm wondering if I should stay with my Dulops or go to the 5000. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has been throuh this. And yes - I'm seriosly considering winter/summer sets at this point.IP: Logged |

Based on your needs I would recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE930. They are H rated and perform well all around. You might want to go with the 185/70/R14 size for a little extra help in the smow. It want affect your speedo more than about 1.5 mph. Check them out at http://www.tirerack.com IP: Logged |

I would definitely not keep the D60 A2 tires in winter. I had them and they started sliding after 25000miles. I really like the Dunlop SP 5000 for better traction than most tires on the market and still all season performance as well. I think they are much better than the RE 930 mentioned in other post. But, I never used them before, so check out tirerack.com(as suggested by earlier post). This is a great place to buy tires.IP: Logged |

The RE 930 may be a good tire but keep in mind that Bridgesone has stopped production of this tire. ***** Note to regular posters************* The rumors of this happening have been around for some time but now The Firestone-Bridgestone web site has dropped all mention of the RE 930. ******************************************* RE930 is still a good tire but this could cause a problem if you had to replace a tire at a later date. I have Firestone SH30s and find them to be a very good tire.IP: Logged |

I've had two sets of Turanza's, the most recent is of the "REVO" variant with a traction rating of AA (rare). This tire will beat any tire in its category hands down in terms of performance. Treadwear, on the other hand, is definitely lower than the 300 that's on the sidewall.IP: Logged |

Consider Michelin Symmetry Tires rated number one by Tire Rack online survey. These tires will give you an exceptional ride, but you may have to wait on back order to obtain them.Do not confuse these tires with the overrated Michelin X-Ones. These tires gave an extremely hard ride on my 96 Camry. The dealer allowed me to exchange them for 'The Advantage Plus', made by BF Goodrich. These tires were also superior to the original Dunlops driving in Canadian weather. IP: Logged |

I to would recommend the Michelin Symmetry as a great all around choice. I replaced the Michelin Energy MXV4's on my 95 Lexus ES300 with 205/65/15 Symmetry's. Handling is crisp, Ride input is very quiet and smooth, dry breaking is great, snow traction is excellent. Overall, much better than the MXV4's.IP: Logged |
