I purchased a new Chevy Silverado 4wd with GoodYear Wrangler ST P245/75R16, traction grade B. I have only 3500 miles on them and am not impressed. Ride is mediocre at best and wet traction is HORRIBLE. Does anyone else have experience with this tire and what replacement, if any, would you recommend. I don't think the dealer will finance this.IP: Logged |

Goodyear makes some good tires. This ain't one of them. Transmit road noise, no traction. Don't worry though, they won't last long either. Start shopping now.IP: Logged |

I had Goodyear Wranglers on my Grand Cherokee and agree with your assessment! They are also poor in the snow, so be careful if you are in that situation. I've since replaced them with Michelin LTX A/T's and have been very satisfied. There are many other tires that are much better as well! I agree with DaveB too - I only got about 25k before they were looking quite worn and I didn't feel safe with them on! IP: Logged |

I agree with Jay, Goodyear does make a lot of good tires. I have a set of Goodyear Wrangler GSAs on my 1992 Explorer. Fortunately, I missed all the brouhaha with the Firestone ATXs since I replaced them at around 50,000 miles several years ago. The Firestone tires are no comparison. The GSAs have outstanding traction in the snow and have very good grip on wet pavement (a common situation here in Seattle). I also got pretty good wear with them as well having replaced the front pair last winter after more than 50,000 miles. I would have gotten a lot more if I had kept the front-end aligned better. The two on the rear are still good to go for another 10-20k or so (would be more than 70,000 miles). While they aren’t as quiet on the highway as I would like, they’re still not bad. And they are a LOT quieter than the ATXs the truck had on it before. My only complaint is that they got pretty noisy as they began to wear out. Sounded like a bad bearing. Still, that’s not much of a problem since they needed to be replaced anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck.
