There was a story in yesterday's USAToday about tire failure rates. I can't remember all the exact numbers but the acceptable failure rate for a tire is 5 failure out of every million tires. The lowest failure rate in Firestone's entire line of tires is 60 out of a million--that is 12 times the acceptable failure rate. The recalled SUV tires have a failure rate of about 600 out of a million.

I really don't think Firestone should be making or selling tires!
