I'm a very conservative driver who values long tread life, wet/snow traction. I'm considering a couple of tires as replacements for my 97 Mazda Protege. I can find lots of info about every tire except Toyo. I'm interested in the Toyo 800 Ultra. I was wondering if anyone had these tires or and Toyo tires. Also wondering what type of reputation Toyo has. Also I'm curious about the 800 Ultra tires because they have a UTOG treadwear rating of 700 and carry a limited 100,000 mile warranty. Obviously these tires have a "hard" rubber compound for long life, but what do they give up in terms of ride and handling?I'm a very conservative driver who values long tread life, wet/snow traction. Once again I get to brag about my Toyos. As I have said numerous times in earlier posts, I put Toyo Ultra 800's on my wife's Corolla. They have about 15000 miles on them now with no noticeable wear. I believe they will last 100,000 miles. They ride great, have better wet and dry traction than anything I have ever owned and pushed the Corolla through a foot of snow last Winter with no effort. It would seem that they would have hard rubber with a UTQG of 700, but amazingly it is not. It is a very soft feeling rubber. I don't know how they did it but they have made a soft rubber tire that last 100,000 miles. I don't know of anyone else that can say that. This Corolla has 125K miles on it. I expect the tires to outlast the car but if not, I will definetly be putting Ultra 800's on it again.IP: Logged | |
