Doesn't anyone have any advice? I have a '92 F150, 4WD with stock 15" steel wheels & Sentry P235/75/R15's. It's time for new tires & I've always thought the 15" just look too small for the truck. Thinking of going to 16" wheels and/or wider, taller tires. Is this a bad idea considering traction(I live in a snow area), handling, price, speedometer & ABS effects? Any suggestions on tire brands or where I could get inexpensive 16" wheels? IP: Logged |

16" tires and wheels are more expensive but not necessarily worse in snow unless you put down a wider track. For example, a 255/60R16 tire will improve handling in dry weather but be worse in snow. Closest in overall diameter as to not change your speedo or odometer readings at all is size 255/65R16. Remember though that a 65 series tire is wider(not as good in snow). If you buy a good tire, then this will be less of a problem. Where to buy good tires and rims for less? Try these three places in this order: tirerack.com(best), tires.com, and victoriatire.com
I like the Bridgestone Dueler H/L, the Pirelli P400 Touring for long lasting quiet highway tires that do a good job in the snow. I don't take my truck off-road much at all. If you want to check a tire size out in comparison to your stock size then go to powerdog.com and type in your 235/75R15 and then other sizes you are looking into.
