I have seen references to "take-off" steel wheels in the context of changing to winter tires. What are "take-offs"?Also, any recommendations for (1) best high performance all season (along the lines of Dunlop SP 5000) and (2) best winter tire that handles well in dry conditions (I expect cold dry weather, not too much snow, but want to get snows anyway). Thanks. IP: Logged |

take-offs are those rims that are simple steel rims which are used only during winter months. They cost about $25-$30 each. tirerack.com sells them with wheel covers(costs more for the covers) and a excellent selection of snow tires, performance tires, anything. The best all around performance tire in my opinion, for the money is the Bridgestone RE 730 followed by the Kumho Supra 712. IP: Logged | |
