I take my 97 GEO Tracker,4D,4WD, on the beaches of Cape Cod, MA, to go surf fishing. Vehicle Manufacturer reccomended tire size is P205. As my luck would have it, the beach I really want to try has a minimum tire size of P215 to pass their inspection. Can anyone tell me if P215's will fit with no problems??

usually all car manufacturers allow a 10% increase/decrease in wheel circumference without any ill effects. That means, you could conceivably go up to 215 with no problems as long as you drop the aspect ratio down one size. for example, if your stock size is 205/60 say, then you could go to a 215/55 with no problems.

don,
thanks!!!!!i'll take that into consideration.some tire dealers say it won't be a problem and yet others say they wouldn't sell me anything other than p205's. if i do change to p215/55 how much might it throw off my spedo and/or odometer?

steve,
that size will not throw your speedo/odometer off at all, that is why i said to drop aspect ratio to 55 to keep the same overall diameter as stock but wider and with shorter sidewalls. It will have better handling than stock. my e-mail is diacovone@aol.com if you have any other questions.
