Could someone please explain what the difference is between "rims" and "wheels". When someone speaks of alloy wheels, are they referring to rims? When someone says "seven spoke rims" what does this mean? When you change a tire, what comes off and what stays on? Rim? Wheel?

rims and wheels are the same

7 spoke refers to 7 spokes projected out from the center of the wheel to the outer rim of the wheel as a design for looks. the spokes are not thin but thick

Wheels, wheels, wheels. Vehicles haven't had rims since wooded spokes went out. I guess technically though some large trucks and trailers still have rims though.
