Is there anybody out there who has had out-of-round Firehawk SH 30 tires? I have had a hard time having these tires balanced at NTB. It seems like they're defective tires. I went to several places to have them balanced, which did not work. I think I had a little vibration from the beginning, but I thought it was minor. Now I have driven my Taurus with these tires about 10,000 miles, and I have a lot of vibration from the steering from 80mph. Today, at a Penske Auto Center, I found that they are out of round. I contacted the Tire Rack where I bought those tires, and it seems Iike I have a long way to go to solve this problem. Their customer service does not seem to be as good as I had expected. I will let you guuy know about the result.

I think I found the problem with the vibration from these tires. A mechanic found that hub centric rings are all missing with my AR Spyder wheels. I contacted the manager of the garage where I bought those wheels and so received those missing rings. Right now, after installing these rings, it seems like it is OK. The vibration problem was not with SH30 tires, but due to those missing hub centric rings, which they forgot to install three years ago when I purchased AR wheels. But it seems a little weird that I have not had much problem with the vibration during those three years without hub centric rings for my wheels even though I admit I had a little bit of vibration from about 80mph.

Charles, Thanks for clearing the SH30s. In these days of Firestone bashing, deserved on some counts, its good to hear that not all of their tires are bad. I've been very happy with my SH30s but I do feel a little shake in the morning from flat spotting. This flat spotting is the same that I have felt with any tire that has nylon belt caps. Perhaps this would not be noticably if my tires had a chance to warm or round up slowly but I live at the end on an on ramp to the freeway so as soon as they are rolling they are up to 70 mph.IP: Logged | |
