I have a 1995 Dodge Intrepid ES with stock 225/60/16 tires. I want a little more compliance in the ride, since I live in a big city. I was thinking of a 215/65/16 to maintain the height of the wheel/tire unit. Does anyone have an opinion about what this would do to the ride and handling? Presumably a better ride and a little less handling would result. Thanks.

Jake,
Your calculations are correct, you could go with a 215/65-16 size tire and maintain correct tire hieght. Though I'm not sure you would really accomplish your goals. First off the selection of tire options in that size are much more limited than the 225/60's. Second, with the number of choices available in the 225 you could probably find a tire that would satisfy your requirements by selecting an appropriate model in that size. What have you been using or tried so far? What speed rating have you been using? I don't usually recomend a downgrading of speed rating in any way, though in this case you would want to look at "T" rated product to accomplish you goals. With out knowing your history I would recomend the Michelin X1 or Bridgestone Turanza T, possibly the Dunlop D65 T, or BFG Touring TA. If you would like to reply with your previous tire usage I'm sure a suitable replacement could be recomended.
