I am looking for a set of tires for my 1997 Ford Taurus LX sedan. The size is P205/65/15. After researching my choices, I like the Michelin X one. Sam's club carries a tire that they claim is the same tire with very minor differences called a Michelin X Radial Plus. Is this really the same tire with the same quality of the X one? There is at least $100 difference in the price of a set of four. Has any one had and experiences with the X Radial Plus and does anyone know if these tires are, for all practical purposes, the same tire?

I have the true Michelin X-Ones on my 97 Voyager. While shopping for the X-Ones I came across 2 different clones, one at Costco and the other at Sears. The Sears one is called the Michelin RoadHandler T Plus or something like that. Anyways the sales staff at both Sears and Costco claim that they are identical to the X-Ones. After taking a close look at them and then visiting a Michelin dealer noticed one difference. The tread design is different. The Michelin dealer said that this is the main difference but other than that the use the same radial XSE technology, and material.

From the tread design I feel that the Sears and Costco clones may be better in snow, but might be a little worst in wet condition. The michelin dealer couldn't comment because he hasn't tested them out himself. The price difference between the X-Ones and one of its clones was about $60 Candian on a set of 4. So to me buying from a small tire chain store might be better for service and warranty purposes, such as flat repairs. That is why I went to the true X-Ones and love them. Best tires I've used.

I'm running Michelin MXV "Pilot HF" radials ("VR" rating) on a '94 Lancia Thema sedan capable of sustained high speed travel. I
often make daily journeys of 500+ miles across UK/France/Belgium in all weather.Have had no problems with any Michelins since 1970. (cost here is around $350 per set (4))
