What's the best tires for my '98 Ford Expedition. I rarely do any off road driving. I'm looking for smooth highway riding characteristics. ThanksIP: Logged |

i would check out your size at tirerack.com see how many tires they carry that fit your expedition. then, choose one with a smooth tread, long treadwear rating, and positive customer reviews. i own a '95 explorer(little brother) and am going with pirelli p400 touring tires in about two months from now. they will last me 70,000 miles and are nice quiet tires. also, for my explorer they only run about $58 each. i also looked at yokohoma avid touring tires with a treadwear expectancy of 80,000 miles but they cost about $11 more than the pirellis. lastly, the michelin x-one is a great 80,000 miles plus tire that costs $97 each for my explorer. i also noticed that Sam's club carries the pirelli p400 touring for about the same price as tirerack.com(almost always i have ordered from tirerack.com because they are very customer oriented and most affordable of all tire retailers i have found). Sam's club also carries a Michelin X Radial Plus that is an excellent tire as well, quiet and long lasting. I think it ran $94 each for my explorer. e-mail me if i can help you any further at diacovone@aol.comIP: Logged |

Sounds great. I went with the Michelin LTX m/s. Discount Tire Co. had a tent sale so I paid $100 a piece- a great deal given Tirerack was selling them for 104 plus S&H. Thanks for the pionters.
