Looking for all-around satisfactory tires with regard to dry and wet traction and handling, tread wear, and noise. Snow is only a minor concern here in Alabama. The tires are for a Lexus ES 300, which is essentially the same car as a Camry. The original Goodyear Eagle GAs were adequate for dry traction and noise, but disappointing for wet conditions and tread life. These are some tires I'm considering: BF Goodrich Comp T/A Firestone Firehawk SH30 Dunlop D60 A2 BF Goodrich Touring T/A Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce Please help with your advice or recommendations.

The Comp T/A is a hi-performance tire, and it doesn't sound like what you are looking for - if you like BFG, stick with the Touring T/A's. If you are considering the D60 A2's, I'd look at the Dunlop sp 5000, a much better version of the same type of tire. I've not heard good things about the Pirelli P6000 SV's - poor wet traction and tire wear. The Firestones are a good "sporty" tire, similar to the sp 5000's and with all-weather capability that the Comp T/A's won't give you - if you want a "sport" type tire. If you are not looking for outstanding performace in any particular category, but want a long lasting tire, look at the Michelin X-One. It may be pricey, but if you are keeping the car, it will outlast all the others in treadwear. IP: Logged |
