I am considering the Pirelli P400 for my 1999 Subaru Outback. Consumer Reports rates this tire very high. Outside of them, I have not seen much info on this tire. Any comments would be appreciated. The other tires I am considering are the Dunlop D65 Touring and the Yokohama Avid T4. They all are about the same price.

I bought 4 Pirelli P400s in summer of 1997. Excellent tires - but after 45,000 miles they're worn down to 2/32". Seems like unusually quick wear to me. My Toyo's (purchased in summer of 1991) lasted 80,000 miles, and had about the same mileage rating (400).

I bought 4 Pirelli's in 1997 for my Saturn coupe. (OEM tires were terrible in rain and snow we have in Milwaukee.) The Pirelli's were much better but I need to replace after 45,000 city miles. I am thinking of NOT getting another set.
