I have a 2000 4-Runner SR5 and drive in snow and ice near Whistler, B.C. What is my best bet for the safest winter tire? Should I buy studded tires for optimum safety?

What are conditions like in your part of BC? Mountains? Cold and snowy? Cool and rainy, with heavy temporary snow? Any off-road driving? Much city or highway driving?

Are studs legal in your area? They will help traction on ice probably the best, but will likley increase stopping distance and decrease traction in dry conditions. If it's a matter of not falling off a mountain, get studs.

I have a Nissan Pickup and run Mich LTX-AT s and have not in 7 years found a tire that can match the traction in all the driving conditions I encounter, I live in the mountans and lite off-road duties, rain, periodic snow, as well as black ICE is what I encounter. Thease tires are a bit spendy but until I find a tire that can compare with them I am leary to switch,..the Bridgestone Dueler I have also heard is good, but as I stated I am chicken to switch,..any feed back on this whould be welcome on my end as well
