I've been trying to search out tires for my Subaru Forester S (215/60HR16's). The Yokos that came with it were pretty lame. Looking through the Tire Rack, I've been trying to find a tire that handles nicely, yet can manage through the snow i get here in upstate NY. I kinda narrowed down on the D60A2 or the Comp T/A VR4's, but would like to know if anyone has an opinion about those tires or any other H and V rated tires, that can manage in snow. Been thinking about this for weeks now, and there's no clear choice in my mind.
Thanks...

IMHO, the D60A2 is not a good choice for an all year tire in upstate New York. Tire Rack even rates it as a High Performance All Season - note the emphasis on high performance. I have run the D60A2 on my Hondas for years and in the spring my A4 will be getting a set, too! It is a very good all around performance tire. It's very grippy, predictable, and quiet and handles *very* well in the rain. The few times I was caught in light snow - procrastinated putting the Nokia Hakkas on! - they were marginal. The rubber felt as if it was very stiff and it just didn't seem happy at all in the white stuff. With the snow we get in the NE USA, I'd be hesitant to run the D60A2 in 2 and 3 feet of snow! Feel free to e-mail me if you would like more info! trippp@wans.net
