I live in the northwest and own a 99 4-Runner and do most of my driving in the rain however about 30% of my driving will be done in snow/slush/ice. I have pretty much narrowed my search between the Toyo Observe and the Bridgestone Winter Dueler. Right now I am favoring the Bridgestone only because I cannot find any test results on the observe. In a recent test conducted by tirerack.com, the Bridgestone tire came out the best for snow/ice/and rain out of two other winter tires. I have only heard personal testimony about the Observe and am wondering if anyone has any opinions on these two tires, or any other winter tire that is comparable or better. IP: Logged |

I bought a set of the original blizzaks 2 winters ago for a chevy lumina sedan. Great tires, but wore away easily. I'm told the newer compounds are better, but still not as durable.I have a 99 Grand Vitara and looked at the Duelers, but opted for the Toyo Observe GP-4's due to price. The tires are good. Stick to the snow and ice well, aren't noisy, control well on dry, wet, ice, and snow. No difference in handling from the OEM's. Took the truck into the snowbelt and ran around feeling quite safe in rear wheel and 4 wheel drive. Maybe next time, I'll try the Duelers, but for now, I'm happy with the Toyo's. IP: Logged | |
